Now that I’m wandering the streets alone in Beijing, I can’t help but eavesdrop on people’s conversation. Is it true that girls bond over love-talk and gossips? Do we make friends with someone who have no similar interest with? Have you ever met someone new and you thought she had pretty similar interest as you but you are just not in the mood to chitchat your way to becoming BFFs? Have you ever met someone new and try to speak her language just to make friends with her?
I couldn’t understand a word she was saying, but I felt I had in my possession all the Italian I’d ever need to know: Dolce, Dolce, Dolce.

I beg to differ. As much as I wish that was enough, it never will be. Unable to speak the first language of that someone new, you’re bound to have a hard time to bond. I have met really interesting people I’d love to know more but because of language barrier, we could only sway around at being acquaintances.
